We have all heard of the big & popular national parks like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Zion. Those are amazing parks and are popular for many great reasons. But what about the smaller, less known national parks? They are all great for a reason too!

Great Basin National Park

  • Great Basin National Park is located in northern Nevada.

  • Be sure to visit the Lehman Caves while you are in the park. In the 1920s these caves we the location for many parties!

  • Lehman Cave tours can be made up to 30 days in advance. The tickets do sell out, so pick up tickets as soon as you know you will be visiting the park.

  • If you can’t visit the park in person, you can take a virtual tour of Lehman Caves.

  • Plan to hike, take scenic drives, stargaze, and enjoy a cave tour.

  • You should spend a couple of days here exploring all that it has to offer.

  • The Gateway city for Great Basin National Park is Baker, Nevada.

  • This park is open year-round.

Capitol Reef National Park

  • This is one of Utah’s big 5 national parks but it’s the one with the least hype.

  • Capitol Reef is located in south-central Utah in the red rock country.

  • You do not need to make any reservations for the day hike trails. Permits are required for rock climbing or if you want to bring a group or organization with you.

  • You can make campground reservations up to 6 months ahead of your trip for the Fruita Campground and 12 months ahead for the Group Campground.

Wind Cave National Park

  • Book your cave tour as soon as you know you will be heading to Wind Cave National Park.
