Our Family's Favorite Things to do in Gilbert, Arizona from A to Z

Gilbert, AZ! Have you heard of it? If you’re coming to Phoenix or Scottsdale for a visit, don’t overlook all of the fun you can have in Gilbert, AZ. Our family lives here and loves the Town of Gilbert. Today I’m sharing the things we love doing in Gilbert with different places that start with each letter of the alphabet. Ready? Let’s get started with A…

A: Agritopia Farm. A cute community with a coffee shop (try their cupcakes!), great farm space to wander and take pictures, and visit Air Guitar which is a fancy convenience store.

B: Barnone. This is located in the Agritopa Farm area. An old grain hut has been converted to a maker’s space. you Can go in and watch people do their crafts and purchase items from them. There’s also a great wood-fired pizza place here and uprooted kitchen is a plant-based restaurant.

C: Central Trail System. Gilbert has 54 miles of bike trails running through town. Rent bikes, go on a run, or a walk along some of the trails.

D: Downtown Gilbert. This area is filled with lots of restaurants and some shops. Be sure to visit at night when all of the neon restaurant signs that line the street are lit up.

E: Eat! There are so many great restaurants in Gilbert! Many of our favorites were shared on our recent podcast episode Our 20 Favorite Places You Need to Eat When Visiting Phoenix.

F: Freestone Park. Lakes, bike paths, a kiddie railroad, skate park, and playground.

G: Gilbert Farmers Market. Saturday mornings in Downtown Gilbert. Hours vary based on the season.

H: Hale Centre Theatre. A theatre in the round! This is an intimate place to watch a play or musical.

I: Ice Cream! Lots of great places to get Ice cream here. Try Petersen’s in downtown Gilbert or Handel’s where they make their ice cream fresh on site.

J: Joe’s Farm Grill. Our family's favorite restaurant. Located in Agritopia, they serve farm-fresh food with a twist!

K: Kayak. There are a couple of neighborhoods built on lakes. Consider renting a home In Val Vista Lakes or The Islands. Find a house on the lakes that includes kayaks.

L: Library. Southeast Regional Library. Who doens’t love a visit to the library? Even if you are on vacation, this is a great way to spend an hour or two. You don’t even need to check out any books. You can just read and enjoy books at the library before heading out to your next activity.

M: Mother Nature’s Farm. Visit the farm for special events during holidays. The fall is an especially great time to visit.

N: Night Playing Sports at Gilbert Regional Park. Basketball, pickleball, sand volleyball, and tennis courts are available. Plus there is a 7-acre lake with a 1-mile walking trail around the lake. There is also a big playgroup and a splash pad.

O: Observatory - Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory. Free stargazing is offered every Saturday (weather permitting) from sunset to 9:30 pm.

Q: Quick Treat at Swig or Sodalicious. These are drive-through drink + cookie shops. We Love Swig so much that we go there almost every day!

R: Riparian Preserve. This is a 110-acre wildlife sanctuary right in the middle of town. Watch for animals, walk around the 7 lakes, plus a playground. The observatory is also located here.

S - San Tan Village. If you feel like shopping, this is a great place to go. It’s an outdoor mall with plenty of shops and restaurants.

T - Top Golf. It’s like bowling but golf!

U: Underwater Fun at Mesquite Aquatic Center. Outdoor pool rec center. Admission is only $1 for children 17 and under and $3 for adults.

V: Virtual Reality at Main Event. Indoor family fun center. Bowling, ropes course, virtual reality and an arcade.

W: Water Tower. Snap a picture at this historic water tower in downtown Gilbert.

X: eXtra fun times at Fat Cats. Another indoor family fun center with movie theaters (with reclining seats!), bowling, glow in the dark mini-golf, and an arcade.

Y: Yoga, well, goat yoga! The original goat yoga. They have classes almost every day. Sign up for a class online.

Z: Zanjero Park. This is primarily a park that is used for recreational horseback riding. There are ramadas with grills available.
