All the best beaches, sites, food, and activities to enjoy with your family on Oahu

This week we are joined by Sue Hoyuela to talk about all the best things to do on Oahu! We’ll talk about everything from activities, to food, and sites you won’t want to miss.

FREE ACTIVITIES ON OAHU

Best Beaches

  • Waimea Bay on the North Shore is absolutely beautiful at sunset

  • Kailua and Lanikai are voted among the world's most-beautiful beaches

  • Turtle Bay Resort has a free beach for families and is a great spot to watch the surfers

  • Waikiki is in the heart of it all! This is a huge stretch of beach right by Honululu. There are also lots of shops and restaurants close by.

  • Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu is great for stand up paddle boarding and yoga at sunset. This is also the best beach for young children because the water is very calm.

Snorkeling

  • Hanauma Bay is absolutely beautiful, but there are limited times that it is open to the public

  • Shark's Cove is a hidden gem! Rent some snorkel gear and check it out! And don’t worry, there aren’t any sharks ;)

Hiking

  • Manoa Falls is super close to Waikiki and it’s a fan favorite! Super easy and breath-taking. You get to hike up to waterfalls!

  • Diamond Head is a must do! Sue recommends starting early in the day since there isn’t a ton of shade. There is a military bunker that you can check out near the top of this hike! They call these bunkers “pillboxes”.

Off The Beaten Path

  • Tropical Farms Macadamia Nut farm - Free macadamia nut and coffee tasting. Crack open fresh macadamia nuts from the tree and feed them to the chickens. Lots of fun!

  • Ko Olina - secret beach and shallow pools perfect for families. You may even see some green sea turtles and the occasional sea lion.

Fireworks

  • Every Friday the Hilton Hawaiian Village sets off fireworks from the beach at 7:45 sharp
