7 Ideas for a Romantic (but Adventurous!) Staycation

Vacations are an important time for couples looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and rediscover their bond. Leaving the kids home in trusted care and getting away can be just what you need to rejuvenate and be even better parents.

However, because of the pandemic, many trips abroad have been canceled, and you might no longer enjoy your much-desired beach days. But don’t worry, there are some unique staycation ideas that will perfectly fit couples with an adventurous spirit.

For today’s ideas, I’m defining staycation as an adventure close to home. Here is some inspiration!

Set Off on a Day Trip

A road trip for the day can be exciting and an excellent way to explore a location in all freedom. In this kind of getaway, the traveling part is an integral part of the fun, so you can make the most of the time together. Yes, even when driving! Just make sure you have planned your stops in advance and you have put all the cautions in place to prevent a road-trip disaster!

This is a great way to explore some places closer to home that you’ve always meant to visit. It also save money because you don’t need to book a hotel since you can just explore for the day and then head back home at night.

Go Hiking

You don’t have to go too far from your home to enjoy a memorable experience with your other half. For example, unique hiking and walking experiences such as the one you will find at the Partington Cove Trail are, at the same time, adventurous, accessible, and beautiful. Find the best hiking trail near your home and plan for a unique adventure. If there is a hotel and restaurant somewhere along the path, consider staying there for a night or two and make the best of your short getaway.

We love hiking, getting outdoors, and getting some exercise together while exploring. You could make a getaway out of it or just check out a trail near your home. There are so many possibilities!

Enjoy a Glamping Weekend

If you don’t like the roughness of camping but you wish to experience a deeper connection with nature, glamping can be the perfect option for you and your other half. When opting for glamping accommodation, you won’t have to worry about bringing all the cooking and sleeping materials with you. Yet, you can make the most of the romantic atmosphere that only camping experiences can offer.

Stay in a Secluded Cabin

Sometimes, the best way to strengthen your bond with your other half is to get away from it all. What’s better than staying in a romantic cabin in a remote location? While this experience can be as adventurous as you need it to be, it can also come with all the comforts that you really need to fully enjoy your vacation but try to leave WiFi out of your must-have list!

Learn a New Sport Together

Learning something new together, whether that’s a sport or another activity, can truly strengthen a couple’s bond and help both people create lifelong memories. Depending on where you live, you could consider couple-friendly activities, including watersports, hiking, and orienteering, or sports like tennis or pickleball. Get playing today!

Help Out at an Animal Sanctuary

Your ideal vacation might involve chilling at the beach or relaxing by a pool, but this year things have already gone very differently. So, why not try something different altogether and create unique memories?

Spending your vacation volunteering as a couple in an animal shelter or animal sanctuary can teach you a lot about yourself and how you work with your other half. All this while helping out a good cause and giving back to the community!  This sounds like a unique and interesting way to bond with your significant other.

Hopefully, something here has sparked an idea of something fun you can do with your spouse/partner even if you can’t be jetting off around the world right now. There really are so many great opportunities close to home.
