Fiction

Tom Lake by Ann Pachett

  • I loved the audiobook! Narrated by Meryl Streep.

  • The book takes place during COVID. Weaves modern times with flashbacks to the main character’s life story.

Horse by Geraldine Brooks

  • Historical Fiction! Loosely based on true events but with added elements.

  • Takes place in three different time periods, with all of them interweaving.

The Measure by Nikki Erlick

  • Everyone in the world wakes up and has a box with a string in it. The length of the string tells you how long your life will be. Would you open yours?

  • Follows multiple storylines of people’s lives. Super fascinating!

Shark Heart by Emily Habeck

  • This book is fantasy and different from my usual read! But I loved it!

  • Discusses trials, tragedy, and love. Beautifully written!

The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer

  • Follows the life of a single mom who gets selected to participate in a special contest on an author’s island. 

  • Discusses some great life lessons in a fun way.

Non-Fiction

A Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan

  • Learn more about the KKK and how it came to power in America.

  • This book really brought a lot of perspective to our lives today and how we need to be kinder and more inclusive to others.

You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith

  • This is a beautiful memoir written by a poet. Her words are so beautiful!

  • Loved the audiobook.

Spare by Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex

  • Easy and entertaining read. Good if you’re interested in the Royal Family.

Wintering by Katherine May

  • The power of rest and retreat in difficult times

  • I recommend getting a physical copy so that you can mark up everything that you learn!

  • Learn to heal sad moments and grow from them in the best ways possible.

Think Again by Adam Grant

  • Think like scientists and question things! 

  • Expand your circle of interactions and learn new things. Open up and look at things from new and interesting perspectives!
