Why We Think Nevis is a Hidden Gem in the Caribbean

This week I’m talking about an exciting vacation location that I hadn’t heard of until recently! This hidden gem is the island Nevis in the Caribbean!

How do I get there?

  • You will need to fly to the island of St. Kitts, then take a 7 minute ferry to Nevis. This was super simple and easy to navigate.


How long should I stay?

  • We only stayed for 4 nights and it was not enough!

  • If I go back, I would stay about a week.


Where should I stay?

  • We stayed in a bungalow at Paradise Beach.

  • I suggest using Airbnb to find a house for your family!

  • If you want more of a resort feel, there is a Four Seasons on the island. However, I thought the houses on Airbnb looked nicer.

Why visit Nevis? 

  • It is so relaxing! The pace is much slower here and it’s a great place to unwind.

What can I do there?

  • Ride on a catamaran boat! We did a sunset sail and it was amazing.

  • Snorkeling

  • Hang out on the beach

  • Hiking (they encourage you to take a guide. Not sure if this is necessary, but we did it and it was nice.)

    • Our guide was awesome! Look up Baba as your hike guide if you go here!

  • Cooking class

    • This was not what I was expecting! We made very earthy food using produce that we picked from a garden. 

  • Volcanic hot springs

  • We didn’t do this, but apparently, there’s a place to rent golf carts to drive and see monkeys!

  • Funky Monkey company does ATV rides!

How do I get around?

  • You could rent a car, but we hired a taxi driver to come and get us for each of our excursions.

  • Our driver was Marvin!


What’s the food like?

  • The food was unexpectedly expensive. But delicious!

  • You could also grocery shop and cook back at your house.

  • Restaurants we went to:

    • Bananas

    • Indian Summer

    • Golden Rock

    • Sunshine’s - so good!
