Fun Planning Ideas for Family Travel in 2024 and Beyond

This week I want to share some fun things that my family did in 2023, and hopefully, this will inspire you to plan some fun adventures with your family!

Even though I am travel-focused, I also want to point out that you don’t have to leave home to create amazing memories.

Here are some of my favorite more simple ways to enjoy time with your family at home:

  • Go on hikes

  • Golf

  • Tube a river (We love the Salt River)

  • Celebrate birthdays and holidays with family

  • Go to sporting events (Go Suns!)

Next up, I want to talk about some of our favorite things that we did each month in 2023! Hopefully these ideas can help inspire your next family trip.

January

  • Cruise to Mexico with friends!

  • Cruises are a great option if you want to travel with a large group. Everyone gets to do what they want during the day, and then you can all meet up at night!

February

March

  • We went on another cruise!

  • We went on this cruise with another family to visit the Caribbean.

  • I even did a podcast all about St. Lucia

  • Cruises are seriously so fun!

April

  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

  • This was my first time staying at an all-inclusive resort.

  • I liked it overall! I wouldn’t want to stay at an all-inclusive for every vacation, but it was a lot of fun!

May

  • Washington D.C.

  • There are so many fun and free things to do here for families!

  • There are tons of great museums and monuments.

June and July

  • France and Italy

  • Ward and I went on a trip to France and Italy! Even though we usually take our kids on trips, it was super fun to travel just the two of us.

  • However, I do not recommend going to Italy in July. It is SO hot! And not much AC.

August

  • We helped our daughter move to Utah for school and then visited our other daughter and her husband who also live in Utah!

  • We spent a fun extended Labor Day weekend in Provo and Logan, Utah.

September

  • Las Vegas

  • We got to see U2 in The Sphere! This was an amazing concert at the coolest venue that I’ve ever been to.

    • Try to sit in the second or third tier for a better view. Or the bottom tier in the front.

October

  • Pinetop, AZ

  • I love Pinetop so much! We visit several times a year.

  • Pinetop is a mountain town in Northeastern Arizona. There are pine trees, snow, hiking, and so much more.

  • If you want more info on visiting Pinetop, DM me on Instagram!

November

  • Pinetop, AZ again! But this time we went with almost all of my extended family for Thanksgiving.

December

  • European Christmas Markets

  • This trip was amazing!!! And so magical!

  • Don’t worry, I’m going to share more about this trip in future podcasts!

Looking forward to 2024, we don’t have a ton planned yet. However, we do have a few things planned.

  • Ward is going on a guys’ trip with his brothers-in-law! They’re going on a cruise to Mexico!

  • In May we are going to Utah for my oldest daughter’s graduation.

  • In May my husband and son (and maybe me?) are going to EDC in Vegas.

  • This summer we are going on an Alaskan cruise with all of our kids and my parents! We are so excited to have my son Max show us around since he just got back from living there for two years.

  • In September my husband and I are going to Africa with other couples! I am so excited!! We are going to Zimbabwe and South Africa.

  • That’s all we have planned for this year so far!

How about you? Have you started planning your family trips for 2024? I’d love to hear about them! Please reach out to me on Instagram if you have any questions about planning a family vacation.
