5 of the Best Things to Do with Your Family in Paris

This week Lisa shares the best things to do and see around Paris to make it a magical family vacation!

There is SO much to do in Paris! That’s why I’ve broken down some of our family’s favorite things into 5 categories. I hope these suggestions can help you and your family have a wonderful time in Paris!

Museums

  • If you’re planning on visiting multiple museums, get a museum pass! This helps you save money and skip the line waiting to get tickets.

  • Be aware that all museums are closed one day a week, but each museum has a different closure day. So be sure to look it up!

  • Louvre

    • Visiting the Louvre is worth the effort! If you’re already in Paris, you might as well see the Mona Lisa and other famous art pieces.

    • Winged Victory is another famous and beautiful statue.

  • Musée d’Orsay

    • This is my favorite museum in Paris!

    • Not only is this museum full of great art, but the building is beautiful as well.

    • The building used to be a train station!

    • This museum is smaller than the Louvre which makes it more manageable to visit.

  • Musée de l’Orangerie

    • This museum is one of a kind. The highlight of this museum is two giant oval rooms, each with four very large water lily paintings by Monet wrapping around the rooms.

    • This museum is very small and easy to visit quickly.

  • Rodin Museum

    • My family’s favorite part of this museum is the sculpture garden. It’s an outdoor garden full of amazing statues.

  • Centre Pompidou

    • This museum is different from the others because it is a modern art museum.

    • It also has super cool architecture.

Food

  • Don’t get hung up on the “top 10 best places”. Great food is everywhere in Paris!

  • I recommend using Yelp to help you find places near you.

  • I am going to recommend Angelina’s, which is right by the Louvre. They have the best hot chocolate that you’ll ever have!

  • Other foods to try:

    • Steak and Frites

    • French onion soup

    • Crepes

  • Check out local grocery stores and farmer's markets!

Cooking Class

  • Cooking classes are one of the most fun ways for you and your family to experience local foods.

  • On our recent trip to France, we took a crepe-making class and we loved it!

  • Another way to experience local foods is on a food tour.

Worth the hype

  • Eiffel Tower

    • There is a reason why everyone who goes to Paris goes to see the Eiffel Tower! It is iconic and so cool to see. I would definitely recommend going to the top!

  • Arc de Triomphe

    • I recommend going to the top of the Arc de Triomphe because it has an amazing 360º view of Paris. You’ll also be able to see the Eiffel Tower from here!

  • Champs Elysees

    • This avenue is right next to the Arc de Triomphe and is filled with high-end stores. Even if you aren’t looking to shop, it’s fun to look around! However, I might not take younger kids inside some of the stores.

  • Sacre Coeur

    • This beautiful basilica is so cool to visit! There is a hill nearby where you can sit and overlook the city.

    • There are also lots of cute bakeries and cafes nearby.

Walk, Discover, and Shop

  • There is so much to see and do around Paris!

  • If you are visiting any of these places that I’ve mentioned, I’d recommend walking between as many places as you can! You will find so many hidden gems of restaurants and shops along the way.

  • If places are too far to walk, use the app Rome2Rio to help you find the best route to different sites.
