7 Fun Things to do in Long Beach Before Your Cruise

Heading to Long Beach, California? I have 7 fun things you can do while you are there. Long Beach is the LA port for Carnival Cruises so you may find yourself in town before a cruise or for a convention and need something to fill your time while you are there. There are some fun and unexpected things to do!

7 Fun Things to Do in Long Beach, California

  1. Aquarium of the Pacific. If you can only do one thing while in Long Beach, I highly recommend a visit to this aquarium. The exhibits are varied and beautiful. Plan on spending around 2 hours.

  2. Long Beach Waterfront. There are fun shops and restaurants to explore. If you are looking for some beach time, you can head to Mother’s Beach.

  3. El Dorado Nature Center has 105 acres of open space with 2 miles of dirt trails plus lakes and streams. Long Beach is mostly businesses and concrete, so this nature venture is a nice contrast.

  4. Visit the Queen Mary. It’s a 1936 luxury cruise ship that is now docked in Long Beach. It is currently closed due to the pandemic but will hopefully be reopening soon! The other tours or you can stay and eat there as it was an active hotel and restaurant.

  5. Stroll along Shoreline Village. There are building painted in pretty, rainbow colors, a harbor along with shops in this area.

  6. Take a ride on the Catalina Express and visit Catalina Island for the day.

  7. Rent bikes and ride along the waterfront!

As you can see, there are many fun things to do with your kids in Long Beach! Although I don’t feel that this would be a destination I would seek out to visit, there are some really great things to do if you are brought to Long Beach for a cruise or conference.
